Today, I'm finding myself thankful and reflecting on whatever it was the gave shy, 15-year old me the longing to start a blog 4 year years ago today.
On January 31st, 2014, I sat in a crowded studyhall in the basement of my high school as I signed up for Blogspot. Time ticked away as I probably could have been doing homework, studying, or something of the like, but instead, I was customizing the layout that would soon be home to the first version of my blog. I went with a premade hummingbird theme with peachy pink and blue tones splashed across each page. I wrote a quick little intro post and hit publish. It was live.
I didn't know much about blogging at the time, nor did I really read any other blogs prior to this. I just dove in because I knew 3 things were for sure; 1.) I loved beauty & fashion, 2.) I wanted to help others feel good about themselves both inside and out, and 3.) I knew very well what it was like to feel unconfident.
So I ran with these things to see what would come of them. There have been changes along the way (like letting go of the pink and blue hummingbird theme!) There have been ups, there have been inspirational lulls, and there have certainly been those times where I felt like scrapping it all. But I learned that you move forward when you keep in mind the reasons that led you to begin. 4 years later, I'm still the shy girl with the laptop with the same will to share messages of confidence, inspiration, positivity, and wellbeing with others (except I'm not in a high school basement!)
But I'll be the first to admit my blog isn't perfect. There are sometimes long spans between posts. I go through writers block. I don't post amazing, designer outfits daily because I'm often perfectly content in a t-shirt and leggings. But I'm happy with it, flaws and all. I realized that its become the perfect reflection of what Clothe In Confidence is all about; celebrating and finding confidence in who you are, exactly how you are. And today, I'm celebrating the blog for what it is, exactly how it is. Real, genuine and imperfect; everything done with heart.
Blogging has taught me that we all have a voice and that we can use the things we love as vessels in which to speak. It has led me to connect with so many amazing bloggers and creatives that are honing their passions and inspiring the world with them. Its shown me that if you have something say, then say it. Social media connects us all, and we're so lucky that we're able to use it for good. Because I'll say it again and again, you never know who might be in need of your message - in need of someone like you!
I've always wanted my blog to be a safe space. A fun one. A motivational and celebrational one. One where you can come as you are. One you can come to after a bad day and have a laugh and relate to. One full of fashion, makeup and things that make us feel our best. It's my heart space. And whatever the next 4 years bring, I hope you will always find what you need here.
Cheers!
