Happy October everyone! Even though we've already welcomed fall a little over a week ago, the start of October always feels like the official start for me. Maybe it's because of the Halloween decorations that are starting to pop up... or maybe it's because everything is becoming pumpkin flavored once again!
Whatever your little seasonal indicators may be, I think something that everyone can relate to is the varying cycle of their makeup routine throughout the year. Typically during the summer months, I gravitate toward lightweight tinted moisturizers and some mascara because the weather is often hot, humid, and in terms of makeup, less honestly looks and feels a whole lot better to me! (And let's be real, sometimes, there's no amount of primer or setting spray that can keep heavy foundation from melting on a 90-something degree day!)
Now that it's cooling off again, I find myself returning to more full coverage products. I love starting with a clean canvas for any fall look, and having some good full coverage face products is a good way to guarantee a flawless base! Read on to learn about my top skincare item + three must-have makeup products for fall!
To Prep | Try: Aveeno Positively Radiant 60 second In-Shower Facial
Makeup can surely even out and smooth over blemishes, but taking care of what's underneath before anything is so important in not only looking but in feeling your best and healthiest self. That's why, this in-shower mini facial from Aveeno has been on of my favorites. I personally find that it's a lot more effective than peel off or mud masks. It works with the steam in your shower and leaves your skin so soft and bright! The combonation of glycolic acid, soy, a lemon peel extract packs a multitude of benefits like fighting discoloration and improving texture! I use this twice a week in place of my usual cleanser to mix up my routine and I definitely notice an improvement in my skin's texture.
To Cover | Try: Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless Foundation
If you're still on the hunt for your perfect formula, I really reccommend the Fit Me line from Maybelline. I fell in love with this last year and have officially returned! No matter your skin concern, it really covers them all (no pun intended)! It looks fresh all day, it covers completely while still looking natural, and the finish is so beautiful. I love the Matte & Poreless one because it keeps shine to a minimum and skims over pores for a seamless and airbrushed look. For drier skin, there's also a Dewy & Smooth formula that's on the more hyrdrating side. Regardless of which one is right for you, there is a super wide range of shades in both formulas!
To Brighten + Conceal | Try: Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer
I was skeptical at first, but I ended up being so impressed as this is a beautiful, brightening, all-around concealer. It's almost reminiscent of Lancome's Touche Eclat with the smooth brush applicator and similar aim to conceal + highlight simultaneously. I love the way the creamy formula blends and looks under the eyes and anywhere else that needs a little extra brightening like the inner corners of your eyes or nose. It definitely made a difference in my overall finished look, and I'm happy to have it as a new addition to my makeup kit for fall!
To Set | Try: Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless Pressed Powder
Maybelline has clearly impressed me with all of their face products this season. When they released their new pressed powders to go along with the foundation, I knew I had to give them a try. I love how light this powder goes on and how undetectable it is. Some powders I find super drying or chalky looking, but this one really does the job of setting while still making your skin look like your natural skin. Like the foundation, they also released another formula called Set + Smooth for normal to drier skin types.
