I adore my cozy winter days in, but there's something about the summer warmth that I just can't seem to part with! And Chicago is surely heating up! So when it comes to my beauty routine, staying cool is always something I try to keep in mind to avoid looking and feeling like a melting, frizzy mess!
Sometimes, getting all of that hair out of your face and off of your neck can make all the difference but there are so many ways and options to go about doing so.
A textured ponytail is always my humid-day go-to because of how effortless they are yet how polished they can look if you spend a few extra minutes on creating yours. So if you're ready to upgrade your hot weather hairdo, then read on to get a few of my best tips!
- Start with some relaxed texture - Having a little bit of texture before putting your hair up is the best way to ensure a polished, voluminous style. Starting with some relaxed waves (either from the day before or minutes before) creates a bit of extra grip as opposed to a more silky straightened base. My favorite way of doing so is going through my hair with my NuMe 25mm Classic Wand!
- Spray it up - Ever notice how your hair is often easier to style when it's not freshly washed? Spritzing in some hairspray beforehand is gonna create even more of a grip and further texturize your waves to ensure a long lasting hold. My all-time favorite? The Nexxus Maxximum Finishing Mist! It's the perfect lightweight mist for summer, yet it's strong and never sticky!
- Mess it up a bit! - After securing your hairtie, lightly brush out the ends, pull at the crown to add some height, and pick out a few face-framing strands for a breezy style that's sure to impress!
While these tips can apply to any height of ponytail, I've decided that a lower-set base is one of my favorite looks to do! It's timeless and so elegant for those days where you're out and about, parties, or even a summer wedding!
So don't let the weather steal your style this summer! I hope these tips will help you conquer any heat waves that come your way!
