Turning the Calendar: April Drugstore Beauty Favorites

by Holly Swasko in

As another new month rolls around, our calendars turn once again giving us a fresh start and plenty of new things to look forward to! I don't know about you, but May is one of my favorite months; the welcoming of beautiful summer weather, more time outdoors, everything blooming, and for me, a new milestone... graduation! So whether you have plans or not, be sure to turn your calendar and make the most of whatever this gorgeous, pre-summer month of May has in store for you.

As the saying goes, April showers bring May flowers, it has also brought several new products and pieces that I can't help but share with you. So today, I decided to narrow it down to my top five beauty picks that I discovered in the past month that I've been using non-stop! Curious? Read on!

Get the details:

Physician's Formula Butter Bronzer

Though I still can't part with my holy-grail Hoola Bronzer from Benefit, this pick from Physician's Formula is amazing for an all-over wash of bronze before building up your contour. It's formulated with murumuru butter which is what gives it its amazing smell. I use the darkest shade and to my surprise, it has a great deal of pigment to it. I've never had much luck with the pigments from this brand, but this was a pleasent surprise. With the rich color and tropical smell, this is sure to be a hit for the summer!

Revlon Kiss Balm

If you're sensing a trend then you're on the right track; I've been obsessed with any tropical scented product that I can get my hands on! When I found myself in need of an everyday chapstick, I picked up this one from the drugstore after noticing that there was a colorless one, though the other sheer ones were gorgeous, but I love how easy it is to wear under lipliners or liquid lipsticks. It stays on without drying up too quickly and the beachy coconut scent is just an added plus!

Wet N Wild Photo Focus Concealer

This concealer has been amazing for undereye and bringing it down slightly to create that triangle we all love for highlighting! It offers great coverage and best of all; absolutely no flashback in photos! I've very been impressed with Wet N Wild products lately - the quality seems to always go above and beyond considering their affordable.

Elf Aqua Beauty Molten Liquid Eyeshadow

These creamy shadows are gorgeous on their own or even as a shimmery addition on the lid for a smoky eye. They don't appear as a chunky glitter finish, they're more of a smooth sheen that can light up any look. These come in several shades like bronze, rose gold, and mocha, but I've been loving the Liquid Gold shade for everyday. There's a cooling effect with these upon applying which is nice in the morning when you're getting ready for the day and for $4 a piece, they are definitely a budget-friendly pick!

Real Techniques Sculpting Brush

This brush has been my go-to lately for bronzer. It has the perfect balance of both softness and density to build up a nice contour while still blending out the pigment at the same time. It's a truly reliable brush that I'm sure I'll keep in my kit for a long time to come!
