Look of The Day | Fall Transitioning

by Holly Swasko in

End of August and throughout the month of September, it can difficult to coordinate looks with the change of season. You don't want to be wearing those floral Summer sundresses anymore, and at the same time, you don't want to go full on October scarves & knits just yet. Today's look is the perfect, balanced combo to make a smooth transition from the Summer heat to fashion's favorite season of Fall.

The base of the total look is a simple circle skirt/crop pairing - one of my favorite styles of all time. For this, I chose to incorporate darker, richer colors to ease into Fall. Also, to not be too overpowering, layered it with a light, breezy open-front cardigan for a little balance.

This skirt, though, is probably my favorite thing in my closet at the moment. It's a super rich wine burgundy, almost a deep chocolate brown in color. It's faux leather, which I love - playing around with textures is so much fun, can make your look interesting, as well as full of dimension. Make sure to not overdo it - I think the knit cardigan and leather skirt combo is just subtle enough!

As stores are making their transitions as well, you can find similar items really anywhere right now. This is the time to start hunting! These 2? You guessed it, Forever 21! (Have you seen my online shopping tips? Check it out here!)
